KATSEYE has dropped their eagerly awaited new EP WILD, and while their most recent media appearances saw them down to just four members, their new video for one of the EP's tracks shows them back to a quintet.
Originally a group of six, KATSEYE became a quintet in February when Manon Bannerman went on a hiatus that doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon. Earlier this month they became a quartet when Sophia Laforteza went on leave to prioritize her "mental health and wellness." But their new video for "Hootie Frutti" must've been filmed prior to that, because she's very much a part of the clip.
In the visual for the Latin-influenced track, the girls are sweating in a hot warehouse before breaking out into complicated choreography; then, the sprinklers burst open and they're shaking everything you can think of while getting drenched amid a huge dance party.
In addition to putting out the EP and their documentary KATSEYE: Wild Hearts, the group has released some new merch. First, they've teamed up with the beauty brand Never Have I Ever to create a reusable press-on nail collection of five designs, each inspired by one of the five tracks on EP, including "Animal," "Pinky Up" and "Hootie Frutti."
They've also partnered with Sanrio®, the company behind Hello Kitty and other beloved characters, to create Kuromi™ x KATSEYE, a line of apparel and accessories featuring the group and the Sanrio rabbit character Kuromi.
